Take the guesswork out of hiring a contractor

Finding a great contractor shouldn't feel like a gamble.

When you tell me about your new construction or renovation project, I do three things for you:

1. I qualify your project. We talk through what you want, your timeline, and your budget range, so the builders who show up are actually a fit.

2. I match you with 3 vetted Maine builders/remodelers. These are local contractors I personally know, who've passed my 6-step vetting process, and who are actively building in your area.

3. You compare 3 real quotes and pick your favorite. I help you compare apples to apples. You make your own informed decision.

And here's the part that surprises most homeowners: my service is completely free to you.

Why My Builders Are Different: The 6-Step Vetting Process

Before I refer any builder to you, they have to earn it. Here's exactly what every contractor in my network goes through:

A black and white icon of a certificate with a ribbon.

Step 1 — Updated Insurance and Paperwork Verified

I pull state records and confirm active general liability and workers' comp. No exceptions.

A magnifying glass is looking at a resume with a check mark on it.

Step 2 — Reference Checks (3 minimum)

I call at least three past clients and cross-check against Google, Yelp, and BBB reviews.

Step 3 — Portfolio & Experience Review

3-5 years of minimum contractor experience with real photos.

Step 5 — Credential & Certification Check

EPA Lead-Safe, manufacturer certifications, and any specialty credentials get verified at the source.

A group of people with speech bubbles and a question mark.

Step 4 — Thorough Financial Stability Audit

I check for recent bankruptcies, liens, and general financial red flags. A broke contractor is a risky contractor.

Step 6 — Interview & 60-Day Trial

A full interview on values, communication, and reliability, followed by a 60-day trial period with close monitoring.

Most builders don't make it through. The ones who do are the ones I send to your door.

Hear It From Maine Homeowners Who've Been Through It

Ash G.

Seth's contractor referral did an amazing job on our new bathroom remodel! They were wonderful workers, extremely polite and professional, and walked me through every oddity. They consulted me on any changes they needed to make to ensure the final product was exactly what I wanted, or as close as possible within our limited budget! We were delighted with the work they did, and will absolutely be calling them back!

Overall, my experience with Seth's Home Pros was overwhelmingly positive, marked by their consistently excellent communication throughout the entire project. They kept us informed and comfortable with every decision. The builder's quality of their craftsmanship truly stood out; The quality of the work and professionalism make them a service I would highly recommend. I’m looking forward to our next project with them!

Seth's contractor referral went above and beyond from start to finish. I hired them to convert an auto garage into a mini ice hockey training facility, and they handled everything: demolition, framing, insulation, plumbing, electrical, and site work - with total professionalism and care. The contractor was on site the day after we signed the contract and never missed a beat. I’d hire the contractor again in a heartbeat.

What Does a Home Project Cost in Maine? And How Long Does It Take?

Every project is different, but most Maine homeowners want a rough idea before they pick up the phone. Here's a realistic range based on what my network of contractors has quoted recently. These aren't quotes, they're ballparks. Your exact number depends on size, finishes, site conditions, and scope.

Smaller Projects

Examples: Deck builds, bath remodels, small additions, garage conversions

Typical range: $15,000 - $50,000

Typical timeline: 2 - 8 weeks

The most common entry projects for homeowner. These are quick wins that add real lifestyle and resale value.

Mid-Sized Projects

Examples: Kitchen remodels, garage builds, basement renovations

Typical range: $40,000 - $150,000

Typical timeline: 4 - 12 weeks.

These tend to be larger transformations that change how you actually use your home day-to-day.

Major Projects

Examples: Whole-home remodels, custom home builds, large additions

Typical range: $150,000 - $500,000+

Typical timeline: 12 – 20 weeks

These are the big ones: full design-build projects where having the right contractor is everything

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need a permit for my project?

For all new construction projects, yes, for remodels and renovations, no. New homes garages, additions, and ADU builds all require permits in most Maine municipalities. It's one of the most confusing parts of the process, and one of the reasons I help homeowners through it. My contractors can pull permits on your behalf as part of every referred project.

  • How long does a typical project take?

It depends on scope. A deck or bath might be 3-6 weeks. A kitchen or garage runs 4-12 weeks. ADUs and large additions take 12-20 weeks. Custom homes and whole-home remodels are typically 4-12 months. Maine winters can push outdoor schedules, so the earlier you lock in a contractor, the better your spring/summer slot looks.

  • Which type of contractor do I actually need?

Smaller projects (a deck, a single-room remodel) usually only need a small time contractor or handyman. Bigger projects (additions, full remodels, new builds) need a general contractor who can quarterback the whole job. Not sure which bucket you're in? Tell me about your project, and I'll point you in the right direction on a quick call.

  • How do you make sure quality is actually good?

Two ways. First, my 6-step vetting process catches red flags before I ever refer a contractor. Second, every project gets followed up with a homeowner satisfaction check. If a contractor's quality slips below a 90% rating, they get pulled from my network. That keeps everyone honest.

  • Can I really get matched in days, not weeks?

Yes. If you reach out before 5pm, I respond same-day. Most homeowners go from first call to three quotes on the table within 4-7 days, depending on project complexity and contractor availability. Compare that to the Angi/HomeAdvisor service where you get 8 cold calls in 24 hours and zero help sorting through them.

  • Is your service really free? What's the catch?

No catch. My contractors pay me a referral fee when they close the job, not you. You get three vetted quotes, my expertise comparing them, and permit and proposal support at zero cost. I only get paid when a builder you choose starts your project. That's what keeps my incentives aligned with yours.
